This prayer if recited daily can ward off the negative affects of slander and malicious gossip.

Bhutanese believe that people’s words about someone, when spoken slanderously, have a negative impact on the person talked about. Even positive words, out of envy, are said to have an unpleasant outcome for the person talked about.

The words and their results are called kharam (ཁ་རམ་) which literally means ‘ruin by words’, or mikha (མི་ཁ་), literally, ‘words of other people’.

People these days spent more time in gossiping of others instead of doing useful things. It has become a habit and also part of life too. But bad mouthing has negative consequences to individual also when their Wangtag and Lungtag is low.

So by reciting this prayer once daily you can ward off such harm.
